Invasive Pest Webinar January 27, 2026 from 9:30 -10:30 am.
Presenter: Dr. Roxana Myers, Research Plant Pathologist/ Nematologist USDA ARS Daniel K Inouye Pacific Basin Agricultural Research Center.
Summary: Invasive insect pests cause substantial damage to Hawaii’s fragile ecosystem and agricultural industries. Local isolates of entomopathogenic nematodes (EPNs) provide a sustainable approach for responding quickly to new invasive insect pest outbreaks without regulatory hurdles. This presentation will explore the potential for EPNs as a management tool in controlling important agricultural pests, including sweet potato weevil and Queensland long-horned beetle.
